Baby Language part 2

It's hard to believe that it has been 6 weeks since I wrote about my frustrations with newly acquired parenthood. With what I'm sure were a lot of prayers being said in my behalf, some calm reflection on my part, and a LOT of patience, things actually seemed to start turning for the better within a few weeks. I let Bean just kind of set her pace, resigned myself to let her do so (there's the patient part) and sure enough, we fell into a sort of rhythm which resulted in peaceful days and I found myself LOVING being a mommy!! It's funny how much has changed since then...

~ I Consider myself lucky! Bean has been sleeping through the night (we are talking 9 hours minimum) for the last 3 weeks. That alone has changed so much. I did not realize what a powerful thing sleep deprivation is. Now I go in to her nursery in the morning and can't wait to see that smile on her face when she sees me for the first time that day. And on top of that, she has consistently been taking long naps in the morning so that I can get things done around the house.

~ S has really found a rhythm with her too. He is so great with her. I love watching him play with and read to her. She pretty much has as both wrapped pretty tightly around her little fingers.

~ I find myself doing things for her with no hesitation. For example, I forced myself out of bed yesterday in the wee morning hours to go stand in an insanely long line until noon just so that I could get an H1N1 vaccine. I didn't care if I got sick with the virus but solely did it so that she wouldn't get it from me. Sure it was a long wait and a pretty cold morning, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

~ Things I thought made me happy before Bean arrived seem so trivial now. I am finding that true joy comes from being with your family. The toothless-grins and coos from a baby learning to find her voice don't hurt either. She is such a cute baby! :)

I am certain that challenges will keep arising but if there is anything I have learned it's that parenthood is all about progress, not end-results. Oh, and in case you missed it, I've learned that I really LOVE being a mommy. I highly recommend it!

Ahh, fall...

This week has been the first week of fall in my opinion. With the weather and calendar changing, it truly feels like fall has arrived. Its arrival has also brought the arrival of this

and these

and of course this guy

I plan on cozying up as much as possible today while the rain pours outside. Summer rocks, but seriously, who doesn't like days like today?

~

I can't believe this little kiddo is already 6 weeks old.

While the first few weeks dragged by, the last few weeks have gone too quickly. I find myself more than halfway through my maternity leave and wishing time would slow down just a little bit.

~

It has now been a year since I started this blog. I am not sure who even reads it but I have to say it has been so much fun. While I'm sure there are people who do read it and know several details about me and my life, it is sort of fun to share my thoughts and opinions (and happy and sad events) with a sense of anonymity. I love going back and reading older posts, too. It has been a great year. So happy blogiversary to me! Can't wait to see what the next year brings!
